Good Day PASS team,

 

We have recently come across these family of 7 while doing volunteer work in Charis Old Folk's Home in Relau, Penang.

The home is a charity home and don't have the capacity to take care of the dogs.

 

They are not in a healthy living condition and don't have proper food.

 

We are urgently looking for adopters to take in the mother and 6 pups. The home can no longer afford to place the dogs there for fear of health problems with the elderly, and also funding to feed the dogs. They have to remove the dogs in a week or 2 from now.

 

Currently 2 pups (1 male 1 female) have been sent to Peng Aun Veterinary Penang and is boarding there for treatment because 1 has maggot infestion in an open wound and another has some skin problems.

We are now paying for the treatment, but we hope we can get some form of assistance to get medical treatment for them, to get them vaccinated, spayed and most importantly have them adopted by animal lovers

 

We appreciate if your society can provide us any form of assistance.

The dogs are in Relau Charis Old Folk's Home.

 

A stray mother dog went there and gave birth to 6 pups. The folks in the home are temporarily taking care of them but being an old folk's home, they don't have the capacity to care for the puppies and mother dog for long.

They will put the dogs out on the streets by end of this week.

 

Please urgently help to seek genuine animal lovers who can foster or adopt these little friends.

Recently my dog gave birth to 4 healthy puppies. Father is a mongrel and Mum ( my dog ) is a Cross Breed retriever. All the puppies are now around 2 months + old and have stop to breastfeed on the mother.

We would like to give them a good home however, our home has already running out of space to make space for 4 more puppies. Therefore, this is the reason why I am writing to you, hoping you could take the puppies in and put them up for adoption. My parents are going to send them away very soon because they are growing big very fast.

PENANG: lost dog finding for new home

Hi there GrASS, i need some help here.

my juniors found a dog wandering near HSBC bank closed to Taman Jawa, Butterworth (near ferry terminal) on 01/07/11 (Friday) evening and they brought him to me. i've put up notice (paper or facebook) but i've been waiting for 4 weeks but no one request. Guess it's being abandoned =(

I'm taking care of him temporarily as i'm still a student and i'll be going back to Sabah as soon as i finish my final exam in Sept. so i need to help him to find a new owner. is it ok if you could help me to post this on your GrASS wall so more people can know bout this?

MDDB will be holding its monthly adoption drive this Sunday, July 10, at the Summit Shopping Center in USJ Subang Jaya. We have four separate litters of of puppies, totaling 25, and about ten young dogs - about 6 months old (spayed) for adoption. The event from 11.30am to 7.30pm will be held at the Summit's main entrance. Those wanting to contribute dry and canned dog, puppy, cat and kitten food, rice, bleach, soap, shampoo, towels and newspapers can drop them off at the venue as well. ROCKY a.k.a The Rockster, the three-legged wonder dog, has many important and interesting people as friends and one of them is Miss World Malaysia 2009 Thanuja Ananthan.
Thanuja met Rocky when she learnt of him from the person who had rescued him from Batu Caves almost a year ago.
"I visited Rocky several times at the veterinary clinic where he was undergoing treatment and became one of his admirers,'' said Thanuja.
Rocky suffered severe nerve damage to his right front limb due to an accident and had to undergo amputation of that limb.
He has also been vaccinated and neutered.
Rocky has been in the custody and care of canine welfare project Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better (MDDB) since his discharge several months ago.
Thanuja, who added that Rocky will always have a place in her heart, is also hoping that he'll find a good home soon.
"He deserves a family that will love and care for him and I hope he'll get adopted soon,'' said Thanuja.
Rocky, who is slightly over a year-old, will be one of the dogs at the MDDB adoption drive at Jaya One, Petaling Jaya this Sunday.
The adoption drive from 11.30am to 7.30pm will be held at Block NB1, facing Station 1 and Old Town White Coffee.
Meanwhile, MDDB adoption coordinator Christine Lai Rocky appears to be oblivious of his dissability.
"He runs like the wind and can be very full of himself.
"If he were a human being, he would most probably be a pompus, self-opinionated and self-admiring individual,'' said Lai with laugh.
She added those wanting to donate things to the canine welfare project can bring the things to the adoption drive.
"We need dry and canned dog, puppy, cat and kitten food, dog and cat shampoo, bleech, towels, old newspapers and washing soap,'' said Lai.

GrASS: Funds Needed For Rescued Kittens Being Treated

Dear Friends,

An animal lover, Dana, rescued 3 kittens & she had to give them away immediately as her mother is not fond of cats. She tried to send them to the Penang SPCA but was turned down as the kittens had eye infections & flu.

She contacted us here at GrASS & has managed to send the kittens to  Peng Aun Veterinary Clinic located at the following address:

We are in need of funds to pay for the vet bill as Dana is a student, she does not have the capacity to foot this bill.

XENA WHEN SHE WAS A PUP.

CANINE welfare project Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better (MDDB) will be holding its usual adoption drive at Jaya One, Petaling Jaya from 11.30am to 7.30pm on Sunday April 17. The adoption drive will be located at Block NB1, facing Station 1 and Old Town White Coffee. Among the canines put up for adoption is a puppy named Xena that was adopted from MDDB in Oct lat year.

"Xena's current owner thinks he cannot spend much time caring for the puppy anymore because of a drastic change in his work schedule.

"So, we have taken Xena back and putting her up for adoption,'' said MDDB adoption coordinator Christine Lai.

According to Lai, Xena is a smart young dog that is both gregarious and loving.

"We hope a family will take Xena in as she is very good with children,'' said Lai.

Besides, Xena, about 15 other puppies will also be available for adoption at the event.

MDDB will also be at the Petz PowWow organized by Petz Unleashed Sdn Bhd on April 16 and 17 at Mines Square, Mines Shopping Mall in Seri Kembangan.

"We have been given a booth and will be selling some of our merchandise as well as putting-up some puppies for adoption,'' said Lai. Guests can participate with their pets in various interesting events such as the Best Dressed Pet Contest, Most Photogenic Pet(s) & Owner Contest and Best Pet & Owner Lookalike Contest. Other events there include owner and Pet Food Eating Contest for which Canadian Pizza will be sponsoring pizzas.

Lai is also appealing for funds, to pay for escalating veterinary bills, as well as items needed for the MDDB half-way-home.

"We need dry and canned dog, puppy, cat and kitten food, old newspapers, dog and cat shampoo, old towels, rice, cages, detergent and bleach,'' said Lai.

For Adoption: Puppies & Mother Dog

Please find attached some pictures of the puppies, and their mum.
 
The mum is about 1 year old and there are 5 puppies (all female) who are now 6 weeks old.
They have been vaccinated, and we are also planning on having them spayed.
 
I would be most grateful if you could help me find suitable homes for these puppies, and the mum.
 
They are all very happy, healthy and playful dogs that would make a great pet for somebody.
 
Please ask anyone interested to call me, as they are staying with me at the moment.

Pet Fair @ KOMTAR ICT Penang, 15-17 April 2011!

There will be a Pet Fair from the 15 -17 April 2011 at Komtar ICT Level 2 & 3. Shows will be held at level 2 and sales & promotions will be on level 3. The even starts at 11 am and ends at 6pm.

GrASS will be having a booth there as well. SO please come by and support us, as we will be having a mini photo booth for you and your pet to be photographed!

The Serdang cat Killer will be at a press conference tomorrow (Sunday, March 6) at Seri Kembangan assemblyman Ean Yong Hin Wah's service center. The address is 1121-1B, Jalan Sekolah, Kg Baru Seri Kembangan. Please be there. Police reports will be lodged at the police station there after the press conference followed by an official complaint lodged with the Department of Veterinary Services on Monday. Please be there people, we have to put a stop to such cruelty.
 

Pet shop abuses their dogs for sale (PENANG)

The Penang Green Animal Shelter & Sanctuary (GrASS) received this from a lady who visited the petshop known as TNT in Bayan Lepas and sent us the information & some photographs.

Hi I went to a pet shop today (1st March 2011, Tuesday) with a friend. They have three shelties and 2 collies there. I was asking them about the shelties and I noticed one of the girls working there...she grabbed one of the shelties by the neck like how mother dogs grab her puppies and just flung the dog out of the cage.. the dog did not yelp. Then I asked her about the gender of the three shelties, she walked in and tried to reach for one of the shelties and when she did that I saw the dog crouch down like it was in fear. and when she reach out to another sheltie which was in the cage who was trying to run away she just grabbed it by its tail and yanked it out of the cage.. I was surprised the dogs did not yelp but I felt hurt to see them being treated like this Is there anything we can do? they look ok like healthy dogs but yanking the dogs like this is not the way to treat them. she is selling them for 3K. local.

(Almost immediately after the former Jakan Kuching toll, on the left row of shop houses (just before the block of flats) Lim Lip Eng's service center is a corner lot of the block of shop houses. There's a 7Eleven in the row and an Indian Muslim restaurant called Restoran Firdaus at the other end. There will be a tent at the service center where the adoption drive is being carried out.)
