GO Green with The Star at the Penang Botanic Gardens this Sunday. From 8am to 11am, a special fun-filled programme will be organised for children between the ages of five and 12.
The Star Penang office manager Chin Yoon Foo said the project was part of the company's corporate social responsibility programme to promote environmental awareness in conjunction with World Environment Day.
"We have also arranged for tram rides, freshly baked cupcakes and light bites for 100 children. The kids will also be taken on a special nature walk with members of the Malaysian Nature Society. It will be very educational for them," he said.
Chin said the participation was on a first-come-first-served basis for the event.
"So please register your kids with us before June 7," he said, adding that activities lined up were in support of the 'Go Green, Live Green' message.
There will also be activities for adults during the three-hour event.
"The Penang Sudarshan Kriya Organisation will give a talk and demonstration on garbage enzyme and its uses," Chin said.
"We will be collecting unwanted recyclable items such as plastic, paper and old computers so I hope the public will come forward to support us.
"PSA Exhibition Booth has been very supportive of this event by providing the facilities to conduct our talks."
