RESIDENTS are encouraged to take pictures of litterbugs who dump rubbish along the roads in their neighbourhood.Ipoh Datuk Bandar Datuk Roshidi Hashim said residents could help the city council by snapping photos of these culprits in the act and report the matter to council officers.
"While the city council is doing its part to ensure cleanliness of the city, the people also have a role to play,"
"We do not want Ipoh to be known as a dirty city but as a developed, green and clean city," he said during his visit to Taman Maju Rapat yesterday.
Roshidi also said the city council would track down the culprits back to their homes and issue them with a summons.
He said envelopes and letters with names and addresses found among the garbage pile would be used to locate the litterbugs.
To a question whether the city council would be increasing the amount of fine, Roshidi said a study would have to be conducted first.
He stressed that the council would not entertain appeals by litterbugs to reduce the amount of fines.
