JOHOR BARU: Johor Baru City Council (MBJB) has declared war on rats and stray dogs.
Mayor Datuk Mohd Naim Nasir said the council would carry out more operations to eradicate rodents and stray dogs that posed a danger to health.
“Although there are no reports of diseases spread by rats, precautionary steps have to be taken for the sake of the people,” he said.
Mohd Naim said, in the first half of this year, MBJB rounded up 2,219 stray dogs and killed 1,829 rats.
He urged people to maintain cleanliness and not throw rubbish into drains and road sides as this attracted rats.
He reminded them that the council allowed a maximum of two dogs for each household.
He said the council would not hesitate to take action against those who violated the law.
