Article: Whale of a catch for deep-sea fishermen

This article was taken from: The Star Newspaper: Nation 3 January 2009

In my personal opinion, I believe that the death of the whale shark could have been avoided should the fishermen have cut their net to set it free. The statement made that he has never seen this kind of fish before and does not know what type of fish it was shows just how ignorant people can be.

Does this mean that if I see an Angel fish as big as a Perodua Kancil car while diving that I should catch it and let it die just because I've never seen such a big Angel fish? The answer is NO!

I went all the way to East Malaysia to find these whale sharks but to no avail, they are very rare now and yet this whale shark in the article above, happened in my own HOMETOWN!
