Hotline: Neighbour's birds causing a din

October 13, 2008 Categories: Hotline

Jahara is frustrated that her neighbour is keeping more than 2,000 birds in the exclusive area of Kajang Country Heights.

She says the birds shriek loudly, especially early in the morning, and disturb the peace and harmony of the housing area.

Jahara adds that after a complaint was lodged earlier this year, the authorities had seized the birds.

However, the relief was shortlived when the birds were returned to the owner after a few weeks.

Jahara says she has again complained to the Department of Wildlife and National Parks, but there has been no response so far.

She adds that she misses the peace and quiet of her home. She hopes that someone will help her resolve this issue.

A spokesperson for the Department of Wildlife and National Parks said the department received a complaint about the birds at Kajang Country Heights last year.

They investigated the matter and seized the birds soon after that.

The spokesperson adds that she would investigate if the birds were “returned” to the owner after being seized.

She also says that with this new complaint, the department would check the house to confirm the validity of the complaint and seize the birds if necessary.
