Chong from Taman Sungai Jati, Klang, has complaints about wild monkeys terrorising the neighbourhood. According to CHONG, the monkeys are losing their habitat apposite the neighbourhood because of a clean-up at an oil palm estate.
“Their antics are making the residents scared. I have already lodged reports with the local authorities but nothing has been done so far.”
● Selangor Wildlife Department director Rahmat Topani says that for such a complaint, his squad will assess the situation in the area first.
“If the monkeys number above 10, we will act to trap them. If we find that the monkeys are aggressive and threatening the inhabitants, we will shoot the monkeys.”
The department encourages members of the public to come forward with similar complaints. Inquiries can be made by calling 03-55193915.
