A year four pupil broke a leg and sustained internal bleeding after falling from the roof of his fourstorey school building near Ampang Jaya.
Ampang Jaya deputy police chief Supt Amiruddin Jamaluddin said Shamsul Ariffin Mohd Hashim returned to SK Taman Tasik in Taman Tasik Tambahan with two friends after school hours to catch a pigeon.
“About 4pm, the victim climbed up to the roof alone and crawled to the edge of the building to catch the bird before he stepped on a roof without a crossbeam.
“He fell to the ground and was found by a teacher, still holding the bird,” Amiruddin said at the Ampang Hospital emergency ward.
The boy is in a stable condition. His 19-year-old brother, Nurul Khattab said Shamsul loved animals.
“There are no pets in our house but our neighbours have birds and probably that is why Shamsul likes birds. Moreover, there are many pigeons at his school.
“Shamsul went to his school at about 3pm wearing his sports attire so we did not expect he would do such a thing,” Khattab added. — Bernama
