Hardly making big bucks, the snake charmers of the State of Bengal, India, went on strike recently because of laws that make illegal the commercial use of wild animals.
India has an estimated 800,000 snake charmers but close to a hundred thousand alone work in Bengal.
The law has thus far put 20,000 charmers in jail. The protesters brought their flutes along to the protest but few politicians were seen dancing to their tune despite the latter’s reputation.
Snake charmers of India unite, you only have your skins to lose.
