Article: Compel owners to clean up

December 04, 2008 Categories: News

In my neighbourhood, there are those who take their dogs out for walks but have no qualms in allowing their pets to do their "business" everywhere, especially in front of other people’s homes but not their own.

I hate seeing dog poo on the road whenever I go for my jogs in the neighbourhood and have done my bit in covering up the mess. It is high time the local authorities introduced legislation to compel dog-owners to pick up after their pets. If they want to keep dogs they must learn to be responsible as well.

Then there’s the question of how many dogs a person can keep if one is staying in a terrace house or a corner lot.

I have a neighbour who owns more than two dogs and never keeps them on a leash. Their dogs have been chasing after the newspaperman and children who walk past the house. Fortunately, they have not bitten anyone yet.
